These strategies can be used with children spanning ages 3-10. We've included over 30 strategies, so you know your child is bound to find a handful of strategies that will work best for them. We always recommend introducing your child to an array of anger management strategies and letting them choose their favorites. We have found this to be a key factor to buy-in and usage of the skills, when needed!
You are NOT alone! If you're nerves are frazzled, it's time to do something different. If you find yourself scratching your head about what do next with your angry young child, this program is for you!
Stop the spin!
Do something different!
Do something that not only has street cred with the thousands of kids these strategies have worked for, but is research-based.
If you've been stuck on the anger-yelling-punishment merry-go-round with your child (Phew! That's exhausting just to say!), this program is for YOU!
You've likely tried every parenting strategy you could find and it may have met with disappointment and discouragement.
This was not the way you envisioned parenthood. And it doesn't have to stay this way.
We've done our research...and there are not a lot of programs specifically catering to helping young children manage their anger and learn better self-regulation skills. It's one of the reasons we've been a trusted source for help and support for more than 20 years online, and more than 30 years in the field. In fact, our strategies have also been taught to early childhood educators nationwide and globally!
We take oodles of research and scientific reports and boil it down into edible pieces for consumption and use by all. Think of it as emotional nutrition...for you and for your kids.
Parenting a tough kid is, well, TOUGH!
And we don't just come at this from a scientific, holier-than-though, "you just need to do such and such and your kid will behave" approach!
Nope!
We do cover the neurocience, so you have the background information to make it all make sense, but we humanize it and make it relatable for everyday living, so you know how brain development impacts behavior.
In fact, this isn't even about "behavior" as we've come to traditionally think of it. It's about teaching self-regulation skills from a secure relationship, with an adult who has learned to regulate themselves FIRST!
This isn't just lip-service to some scientific journal approach from an ivy-clad tower, that sounded good to me. This is hard-won knowledge, both personally, as a parent who has stood firmly where you are standing now, and a child & adolescent therapist who found out that your typical parenting books that work for the majority of kids, do NOT work so well with more intense and over-the-top kids!
This program takes into account all aspects that impact anger for young children:
Child Development
Brain Science
Physiology
Co-regulation
Affective Development
Social-Emotional Development
Skills Deficits
We take that knowledge, distill it into to usable information for the masses and exercised our creative muscles in crafting developmentally appropriate strategies that help kids process and mediate angry outbursts.
This program includes three training videos for adults, each broken down into bite-sized pieces of 20 minutes. This allows you to watch at your leisure, return back when you are able, and watch again and again, as you learn to use these strategies with your kids.
You'll also get a handout that goes along with each video, so you can take notes and follow along.
Finally, you'll get full-sized illutstrations of each strategy. Hang up your child's favorite strategies in an easy to see area, so you and your child may refer to them, as needed.
Additionally, you'll get strategy cards that you can cut out and keep handy for use with your kids and a miniature set of all the strategies, which you can affix to popsicle sticks for easy use with your littles, plus a mini-booklet you can cut out and staple together or secure with a ring clip.

Only some of what is shared in our "Playful Anger Management Program for Littles" was shared at a training for supervisors and managers for an early childhood home visiting program. Here are just some of the things they had to say about it...
“You are such a motivational speaker. Your ideas are reachable and fun. Many thanks.”
Wendy is the best children's "mechanic" I have worked with in over 30 years of experience as an attorney dealing with and advocating on behalf of troubled kids. If anyone knows how to get a child and family "running on all cylinders," it's Wendy. Concrete, real-world approaches that can and do work.
“Wendy, can you come home with me? Excellent program filled with useful and hands-on information for parents, educators, and anyone dealing with children.”
